About Us
At Blue Swallow Events and Catering, family is at the heart of everything we do. Our business is run by two sisters, along with their husbands and children, all of whom contribute to making every event a memorable experience. From setting up the horsebox to serving guests and creating menus, we all work together to bring warmth, care, and attention to detail to every occasion.
Our story began with an inheritance from our father, a talented craftsman and a man whose creativity and generosity shaped our lives. With this gift, we purchased a horsebox and set out to create something unique — a mobile catering business that could travel to events while retaining a personal, homely touch. We converted the horsebox ourselves, using reclaimed timber from furniture our father had built for his home. Every beam, every panel, carries a piece of his craftsmanship and spirit, making our horsebox not just a vehicle, but a moving tribute to his legacy.
The name “Blue Swallow Events and Catering” comes from one of our father’s distinguishing marks — a blue swallow tattoo on his arm. The swallow symbolises love, loyalty, and remembrance, and it felt the perfect way to honour our father while giving our business a meaningful and memorable identity.
Our horsebox, lovingly named “The Robin’s Rest”, continues the bird theme and holds a special significance for us. Robins are often seen as symbols of loved ones who have passed, resting nearby to offer comfort and reassurance. By naming our horsebox this way, we pay tribute to those we’ve lost while creating a sense of warmth, comfort, and connection for the people we serve.
At Blue Swallow Events, we offer more than just catering. We offer a personal experience. From our horsebox trailer, we serve freshly baked jacket potatoes from our cast-iron oven, as well as a range of freshly made sandwiches, cobs, and afternoon tea options. For venues without space for the trailer, we provide cold buffet catering, carefully prepared to suit weddings, parties, corporate events, and private celebrations.
Our family-run approach means we put the same care into your event as we would our own. Every plate we serve, every buffet we create, and every interaction with our clients is handled with love, professionalism, and attention to detail. Our goal is to make your event not only delicious but truly memorable, leaving your guests with a sense of joy, comfort, and care.
Blue Swallow Events and Catering is more than a business — it’s a tribute, a family legacy, and a way to share the love, creativity, and spirit of our father with the world.
Meet the Team
Debbie
Hi, I’m Debbie, the eldest sister and the driving force behind Blue Swallow Events and Catering. I oversee the day-to-day running of the business, from liaising with clients to ensuring every event runs smoothly and seamlessly. I love making sure each detail is just right so our clients can relax and enjoy their special day.
I hold a Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate, ensuring that every dish we serve meets the highest standards of safety and quality. When I’m not working at an event, you’ll often find me teaching cooking in schools, sharing my passion for food with young people, or photographing families, capturing their special moments in meaningful ways.
Running this family business allows me to combine my love of food, organisation, and creativity while sharing something truly personal and memorable with our clients. Every event is an opportunity to bring a little joy, warmth, and delicious food to people’s lives — and I absolutely love it.
Nikki
Hi, I’m Nikki, the chatty half of the sister duo behind Blue Swallow Events and Catering! I absolutely love meeting our customers and making everyone feel welcome. From the moment guests arrive at an event, I enjoy having friendly conversations, sharing a smile, and helping create a relaxed, happy atmosphere — because for me, catering is as much about the experience as it is about the food.
On the day, you’ll usually find me serving from our horsebox, taking orders, and keeping everything running smoothly. But I’m also focused on the little things that make a big difference — making sure the horsebox looks inviting, every dish is presented beautifully, and each guest receives the perfect portion. It’s these small touches that turn an event from good to memorable, and I love being part of that.
When I’m not at an event, I’m a proud parent who home educates my children. That role keeps me organised, creative, and endlessly patient — qualities I bring to every aspect of our business. Balancing family life with running events has taught me the importance of connection, care, and attention to detail, and I carry that into every service we provide.
Being part of Blue Swallow Events and Catering means I get to combine my love of people, food, and creating special moments. I love seeing guests enjoy themselves, hearing happy chatter, and knowing that I’ve helped make someone’s day a little brighter and more memorable.
Daniel
Hi, I’m Daniel, husband of Debbie and proud member of the Blue Swallow Events and Catering team. I hold a Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate and spend my time at events preparing our food to the highest standard, making sure every dish is fresh, tasty, and served safely.
I also had the privilege of converting our horsebox into the beautiful mobile catering unit you see today, using reclaimed timber from our father’s furniture to create a space that’s unique, personal, and full of character. Bringing the horsebox to life was a labor of love and is something I’m incredibly proud of.
When I’m not at an event, you’ll usually find me working as a dental technician, combining precision, skill, and attention to detail — qualities I bring to every plate we serve. I love being part of this family business and helping create experiences that our clients and their guests truly enjoy.
Leigh
Hi, I’m Leigh, husband of Nikki and proud member of the Blue Swallow Events and Catering team. I’m the one who makes sure our horsebox trailer arrives safely and runs perfectly at every event. From towing the trailer to setting it up on-site, I take care of all the practical and mechanical side of things — making sure the power is working, everything is oiled and in top condition, and the set-up runs smoothly.
I love being the behind-the-scenes person who keeps everything ticking, so our team can focus on serving amazing food and creating a welcoming atmosphere for our clients and their guests. Seeing the finished set-up, ready for guests to enjoy, is always a great feeling!
When I’m not at an event, I work as a mechanic, so keeping things running efficiently is second nature to me. I bring the same care, precision, and attention to detail to the business as I do in my day job, making sure every event runs safely and smoothly from start to finish.
The Next Generation – Mini Helpers
Our youngest team members bring laughter, smiles, and boundless energy wherever they go. Whether they’re helping pass out sandwiches, greeting guests, or simply waving with excitement, they’re learning the value of teamwork and making memories — just like the ones we aim to create for our clients.
Our teenagers are equally enthusiastic, stepping in wherever needed — from setting up the horsebox and serving guests to helping with the cleaning afterwards. Involving them from a young age is more than practical; it’s about passing on a family legacy. By learning the ins and outs of the business, they’re gaining skills, responsibility, and a love for working together that we hope will stay with them for years to come.
Every member of our team brings something unique — whether it’s planning, serving, or perfecting the finer details — and together we combine professionalism, creativity, and genuine care. Being a family-run business allows us to create events that feel personal, warm, and memorable, and we love sharing that energy and passion with every client we work with.
